Greyhound Adoption
The first step in adopting a Greyhound is filling out an application.
In order to determine which dog will fit best in your home, we will
need to call you with some questions about your lifestyle and home.
After that we will schedule a home visit with a dog or two that we
think will work best. If you are nervous about adopting at first or
have a fear of commitment, let us know and we can set you up in the
foster program. This is a great way to get a feel for the dogs before
you make the big decision.
Greyhound Pets Photo Contest
The American Greyhound Track Operators Association is holding a photo contest! Entries are due to them by June 15. One entry per household. Click here to download the official flyer.
On a visit to the Dorsey Kennels, Shari McManigal, one of our GPA volunteers, fell in love with this blue brindle little boy that didn't even have a name yet. Well, the dog's owner, Monte, was so touched by the love between these two, that he told Shari she could name the puppy. The name she picked (because he is a blue brindle) is "Vincent Can Go." Congratulations, Shari!
Sad News - March 17, 2009
I received a telephone call a little while ago from our former GPA
volunteers, Brent and Lexie Mowery, who have moved to Louisiana. They informed me that their Greyhound service dog, Lady, was struck and killed by a car today. Lady died trying to protect Brent who is deaf in one ear and did not hear the car approaching in a shopping center parking lot .
When Lady was hit, she was thrown into their other Greyhound, Amber. Amber is now in the hospital with a concussion and we pray that she will be all right.
Brent and Lexie had many friends with GPA and they will be in our prayers.
